Sharpening of images
- The sharpening of images following color conversion – e.g. from RGB to CMYK – is an important option for obtaining a “crisp” sharpness impression on the press. Therefore, the Options in ZePrA 3 offer the possibility of applying unsharp masking following color conversion.

- Customers are given the choice of applying sharpening either to all image files, or to images in specific color spaces (e.g. only RGB and Gray images) and/or to downscaled images.
- Choice of the unit of length of the Radius of unsharp masking (pixels, points or millimeters) makes it possible to optimize sharpening either for pixel images (radius unit: pixels) or for PDF files (radius unit: points or millimeters).
Note: The points or millimeters unit permits visually similar sharpening of images with different scalings and resolutions in PDF files.
- Image scaling and sharpening can be combined as and when necessary.
- Presets for typical, output-related sharpening tasks, e.g. moderate sharpening of all images, strong sharpening of RGB and Gray images or weak sharpening of all downscaled images, can be selected via a correspondingly named chooser.
- In most cases, the built-in sharpening options eliminates the need to use external tools for later sharpening.
